Ilex is participating in ROLE ID, a European research project sponsored by ITEA2 (Information Technology for European Advancement)
ITEA 2 stimulates and supports projects that will give European industry a leading edge in the area of Software-intensive Systems and Services. The domain is a major a driver for the growth of the European economy and a key factor for innovation in the most competitive sectors.
ITEA 2 is open to European partners from large organisations, PMEs and also research institutes and universities.
The objective of the ROLE ID project is to develop the concept of an identity within an organisation by extending the notion of a ’role’.
The idea is to:
Introduce an innovative concept of the function of identity that will improve notions of shared context and delegation.
Introduce a new concept of ’virtual user’ that will allow rich and dynamic role allocations.
Develop new ways for organisations to model highly complex identities and roles.
Adapt and improve existing methodologies for administering complex organisations’ identity databases.
Provide enhanced tools for identity provisioning that are relevant to real life constraints.

Ilex is highly involved in this project and contributes all of its experience of the access and identity management domains. Ilex works alongside partners from Finland (Insta DefSec Ltd / Ubisecure / University of Eastern Finland / University of Oulu / VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland) and France (CASSIDIAN / Evidian / ILEX / ENTR’ouvert / SWID / Telecom Bretagne).
